All of the tournament games were extremely well-played by the Atom Rep team with super passing, forechecking, and backchecking which only allowed 4 goals against the whole tournament. The coaches are bursting with pride over how well these Stars came together, played as a team and how they conducted themselves. They were excellent ambassadors for our hometown. Congratulations!!!
The Atom Rep team traveled to Arran Elderslie Feb. 28 - Mar. 2 to take part in the annual Duane Steinacker Atom Tournament. They played a total of 4 fantastic games and went to the A Final where they lost a hard fought game in a shootout..
They began the tournament with a game against the eventual B Champs Ripley Wolves which Cayuga won 2 – 1. The Stars then played the Milverton Drives and came away with a 6 – 1 victory. They returned on Sunday to play the Township of Chatsworth Rebels in the A semi-final and the Stars once again came out on top, 4 – 1. That left the Championship to be decided between the Cayuga Stars and the Blyth-Brussels Crusaders. The game ended in a 1 – 1 tie and when overtime did provide a winner, it was left to a shootout. Despite the solid team play by the Cayuga squad, the Crusaders came out on top to claim the Championship.
