Hagersville Hawks vs. Dunnville Jr Mudcats Opens 2025/2026 Season in Cayuga.
Hockey Day In Cayuga is pleased to announce the Hagersville Hawks OHA Junior C home game opener against the Dunnville Jr Mudcats at its community fundraising event Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Cayuga Memorial Arena.
"The Hagersville Hawks are looking forward to playing our opening night home game at Hockey Day In Cayuga, said Todd DeMille, Director of Operations of the Hagersville Hawks. "It will be a busy, exciting day, and the Hagersville Hawks are proud to be part of it."
The Hagersville Hawks were founded in 1992. The Hagersville Flyers of the Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League previously represented the town. The Hawks won the OHA Cup as league and provincial Junior D champions in 2005.
"The Dunnville Jr Mudcats have played games at the Cayuga Memorial Arena in the past, and we have always drawn energetic, great crowds," said Curtis Longland, President of the Dunnville Jr Mudcats. "We appreciate being included in the fundraising event for the Cayuga Minor Hockey, the Haldimand River Kings and the Haldimand Rivercats."
The Dunnville Jr Mudcats, formerly the Dunnville Terriers, were established in 1974. Dunnville has been home to Junior Hockey for over 50 years and has celebrated a 50th anniversary for this tribute. The Mudcats have two All Ontario Championships in 1976 and 1983.
Game time for the Hagersville Hawks vs. Dunnville Jr Mudcats is 7:00 p.m.
Hockey Day In Cayuga will also feature an Equipment Swap presented by Stay Sharp Sporting Goods and a Free Pancake Breakfast.
Cayuga Minor Hockey, the Haldimand River Kings and the Haldimand Rivercats will be on hand all day, selling event programs and pucks for a Puck Toss. The Cayuga Warriors Football Team will hold a fundraiser, and the Fisherville Lions Club will collect bottles and cans to support Lion Floyd's drive to support youth hockey and baseball teams.
On game day morning, all Cayuga Minor Hockey players will show off their abilities, and in the afternoon, there will be Exhibition Hockey Games. The Haldimand River Kings U15A will host the Norfolk Knights, the Haldimand River Kings U8MD and U9MD teams with have intersquad games, the Haldimand Rivercats U15B team will host the Norfolk Hericanes, a St. Catharines Brock Jr. Badgers—U13AA Girls Exhibition Game, and a Public Skate.
The evening will feature an OHA Junior C home game between the Hagersville Hawks and the Dunnville Jr Mudcats at 7:00 p.m. that will be preceded by Special Guests, an Autograph Session, a live rendition of our National Anthem—O Canada, along with the Legion Honour Guard, an Official Puck Drop, and a sponsor hospitality area in McSorley Hall.
Events will start at 8:00 a.m. and run throughout the day and into the evening. The day will be capped off as one lucky spectator can win a Honda ATV in the “Rapid Fire Shoot the Puck Contest” presented by Premier Equipment.
Admission will be free, and proceeds will support our Cayuga Minor Hockey, the Haldimand River Kings, and the Haldimand Rivercats. Haldimand County-based organizations will be represented by nearly 1,000 young people between the ages of 3 and 22.
