In a 16 team challenging tournament, Team Green was undefeated this past weekend.
On Friday February 21st the U11 Team 1 Green team played in the Innisfil Winterhawks Winter Classic. Starting with 2 games played on Friday, after not touching the ice in over a week due to weather cancellations. In the 1st game they faced the Ennismore Eagles securing a 3-2 win with 2 impressive goals scored by Liam Heaslip and 1 by Jayce Stirling. Liam Heaslip walked away with the MVP DEFENDER award of the game.

On Sunday afternoon, the Stars came out with a BANG with 5 goals scored by Lucas Varaljai and 2 by Grayson Meyer. Ezra Hunt held strong and secured his 1st shutout of the tournament, a 7-0 win for our stars. Lucas walked away with the MVP of the game award.
The Championship finals ended up being a Haldimand County Show down between Cayuga Stars and Caledonia Thunder. Every second of this game was intense right up until the final 2 minutes when Ezra Hunt made some jaw-dropping saves for his team securing the win and himself the MVP of the Game award. Grayson Meyer scoring a goal as well as Liam Heaslip scoring our 1st and 3rd goals including a one-timer from the point that was shot so fast and hard no one saw it coming.
Coaches, parents and the Cayuga community are so proud of the way Team Green represented the community this weekend. Every player on team green put points on the board, every single player including Ezra secured at least 1 assist or goal. The team work, determination, collaboration and effort given by all of these players was admirable and commendable.
Congratulations to Team Green on this huge accomplishment. They have brought home a trophy that will be displayed in the trophy case for years to come.
Job well done to the Coaches: Dave Beam, Kevin Rivers, Jeremy Smith & Chris Varaljai
