Cayuga beat Caledonia 4-2 to punch their ticket to Championship day. Caledonia was undefeated in the round robin but a determined Cayuga team shut down the Caledonia offence and took advantage of their own chances.
Leading the scoring for Cayuga were Blake Hartwick with 3 goals and an
assist (our team's first Hattrick of the year) and Isaac Vanderbolt with
3 assists. Bryson Huber notched the game winner while Lincoln Brownell
and Tyler Slater added assists. After conceding the first goal, Cayuga
responded with three of their own to take the lead. Caledonia got a
power play goal in the second to make it close and then Blake Hartwick
iced the deal with a late second period goal. The third was scoreless as
we played a prevent defence and Dylan Link stood tall in net rejecting
all Caledonia shots. Deacon Thomson was unbeatable in the faceoff circle
winning every draw in the dying moments when Caledonia had pulled their
goalie and we kept dumping the puck out to run down the clock.
Cayuga faces Glanbrook in what will no doubt will be a hard fought
battle in the Championship game. Go Stars Go!
