Update/Revised Amalgamation/Partnership Voting Notice
Hello Cayuga Minor
Hockey families,
It’s time to
have your say again!
On Dec. 1st,
Hagersville Minor Hockey’s executive decided to not have their membership vote
and have removed themselves from the proposed partnership amongst the four
Haldimand centres. Since our original ballot included Hagersville, we are
required to vote again on a Rep partnership amongst the three remaining minor
hockey associations: Caledonia, Cayuga, and Dunnville.
This re-vote is scheduled to take place at our arena on the
following dates:
Saturday, Dec. 11th 8 AM-1 PM
Sunday, Dec. 12th 2:30
PM-6 PM
Wednesday, Dec. 15th 6 PM-9 PMPlease note that if you voted previously (Thank you), you will have to vote again as those votes will not count during this round. If you did not vote in any of the previous sessions, you are encouraged to attend and cast your ballot to have your say in the future of Rep hockey here in Haldimand. Voting will take place according to the rules set by our by-laws/constitution.
Some key points to consider:
- Other than having four less Directors on the new association’s executive, nothing changes about how the new association will operate with Hagersville removing themselves from this venture.
- The new association will only affect the Representative teams in each association. The Local League teams will operate as they have in the past.
- The new association will operate as an A centre (pending OMHA approval) allowing for players to remain in Haldimand County and still play at a high, competitive level rather than leaving for larger centres.
- Even though the OMHA is eliminating the AE level after this season, they have confirmed there will be an opportunity for additional Rep teams at a classification lower than A (for example: B BB, C, CC, D, DD, etc.) if numbers show there is interest.
What’s next after the vote?
- If the outcome is in favour, the proposal is submitted to the OMHA for approval.
- If approved, early in 2022, the executive of the new association will be elected from each of the local centres. (4 from each association)
- Executive meetings of the new association will take place soon after to fill roles and to begin planning for the upcoming season.
- The coach selection process will follow, looking toward team tryouts in the Spring of 2022.
If you have any further questions, please be sure to check the FAQ’s posted on our website or ask a member of our executive.
Thank you everyone for your participation in this process!
