Submitted By Blake Eady on Saturday, February 11, 2012
The Cayuga Bantam Rep team advances to round three (Quarter finals).

Game details will be posted early next week.  They will take on either Port Dover Sailors or Burford Coyotes who are battling in game 5 today.

Game 1: The Cayuga Bantams began the second round of their OMHA playdowns hosting Six Nations. The Cayuga Team came out flying and won the game 7-2. The team won the game with hard work abd dedication. That translated into hard work in both ends of the rink beginning with strong goaltending from Ryan Clarke. Solid play from both the forwards and the defense kept the pressure on the Six Nations team and got the Cayuga Boys off to a great start (Cayuga 2 pts Six Nations 0 pts)

Game 2: The Cayuga team travelled to Six Nations.  The Cayuga boys came out flying in the first period and jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The Six Nations team would not go quietly into the night they demonstrated their pride and talent and took control of the second period narrowing the Cayuga lead to 3-2. The Cayuga boys fought back and took control of the game early in the third getting a 4-2 lead. The Cayuga boys seemed in control of the game until 3and a half minutes left in the game when the Six Nation boys scored. Six Nations threw everything they had at the Cayuga Boys  Strong goaltending from Dakota Freeman and hard work from the team say the Cayuga team bend but they did not break and they hung on to win the game 4-3 and win game 2. (Cayuga 4 pts Six Nations 0 pts)

Game 3: Game 3 was back in our arena with a chance to advance to round three- the quarter finals. Six Nations  were not going down without a fight. Six Nations  team jumped out to a 1-0 lead. A lead that would carry over until the third period.  While the Six Nations team dominated the game Cayuga was still in the game due to a strong performance by our goalie Ryan Clarke. Late in the third period the Cayuga boys would fight back to tie the game 1-1. The game would go into overtime. The Cayuga boys remembered how they felt back in the St George series when they lost game two in overtime and that was all the motivation the boys needed as they went out and scored the game and series winning goal. (Cayuga 6 pts Six Nations 0 pts)

Winning this series was again a team effort and every member of this team contributed. In two series the Cayuga  team has got strong goaltending from both Ryan Clarke and Dakota Freeman. They have combined for a 1.75 goals against average and a 6-1-1 record.  We had strong leadership on defense from Co-Captain Jonathan Armstrong, Assistant Captain Caleb Brooker who often dominated play on the ice. Daniel Martin saved his best game for game 3 of this series  Our Defense continue to play the best hockey of their season , Austin Harrop, and AP player James Tattersall also had great efforts.  Our forwards were led by Co-Captain Liam Daly,  Assistant Captain Alex Doucette and who scored big goals and  Ty Walters-Salvatori who was a scoring machine and the team leader in scoring.  Sam Armstrong scored a big goal and assist in game 1. Tyler Loney , Matt Kinnear (Assistant Captain)  Matt Berkmortel  Noah Palladino  also made some big plays to help lead this team into the third round

Congrats boys once again you made your coaches proud!
